Jankovic: Won despite errors
Jelena Jankovic moved into the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells with a 6-4 6-4 triumph over Alisa Kleybanova.
The sixth seed leaked 21 unforced errors in the match but her Russian opponent racked up almost twice that amount in a contest lacking in quality.
The Serbian, still strying to regain the form that saw her reach the number one ranking, was 2-4 down in the second set before rallying to win the last four games and earn a date with Samantha Stosur - a straight sets winner over Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez
"I am just happy to be in the semi-finals again," the world number nine said at the courtside after reaching the last four for the first time on this year's WTA Tour. "Today was not easy.
"Kleybanova is such a tough opponent and she plays very tough balls. I am just pleased to get through."
A solitary break in the third game was enough to give her the first set but she was broken in game six of the second when backhand went long.
However, she immediately broke back after the 23rd-seeded Russian twice double-faulted and Kleybanova also lost serve in the ninth.
Stosur progressed with a 6-3 7-6 (9-7) victory over 28th seed Sanchez.
Stosur secured the only break of the first set to move into an early lead and although both players dropped their serve in the second set, the Australian held her nerve to secure the match.
