Svetlana Kuznetsova saw off fellow Russian Maria Kirilenko in convincing style as she motored into the fourth round of the US Open.
The 11th seed defied strong winds at Flushing Meadows to record an emphatic straight sets triumph, prevailing 6-3 6-4.
Kuznetsova was particularly impressive on serve and was not broken during the contest which she sealed courtesy of two breaks in the first set and one in the second.
However, she acknowledged afterwards that there were still areas she could work on ahead of her fourth round clash.
"It (the wind) definitely disturbed me, I made a few mistakes," she stated.
"It was important to keep moving to the ball and I think I did that pretty well.
"I sometimes find movement hard and that's one of my problems.
"I still have to build if I want to win the tournament."
Kuznetsova's next opponent is Dominika Cibulkova after the Slovakian thrashed Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain 6-0 6-1.
Seventh seed Vera Zvonareva was also a straight sets winner as she defeated Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania 6-2 7-6 (7-2).
