Brett Favre's on-off retirement saga took another twist with FoxSports.com reporting that the Green Bay Packers have filed tampering charges against their NFC North rivals the Minnesota Vikings.
Favre, 38, called time on his playing days on March 3 following a decorated 16-year career with the Packers.
He has since backtracked on that decision and Green Bay, who still hold his playing rights but are not keen to reinstate him as their starting quarterback, allege that Minnesota offensive co-ordinator Darrell Bevell held inappropriate conversations with Favre.
The pair are close friends having worked together during Bevell's time as an assistant coach in Green Bay from 2000-05.
The Vikings deny any wrongdoing but, should the league find them guilty of tampering, could be punished with the loss of draft picks, a fine or both.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined to comment on the report when questioned by The Associated Press on Wednesday.
