Ryan Longwell held his nerve as he landed a 30-yard field goal with 13 seconds left to seal a 30-27 victory for Minnesota over New Orleans.

The veteran had already kicked two field goals from 53 yards and 33 yards, before snatching the win in the dying moments.

The kick completed a superb comeback for the Vikings, who had trailed by seven points in the final quarter.

However quarterback Gus Frerotte had connected with Bernard Berrian for a 33-yard touchdown to tie the game with seven minutes left, before Longwell won the game.

Antoine Winfield returned a blocked field goal attempt from 59 yards for Minnesota's other touchdown, while Berrian finished with a game-high 110 yards receiving.

The defeat was harsh on Saints star Reggie Bush, who had put in a superb running performance.

Bush ran back two punts for touchdowns - his first coming from 71 yards out, while his second saw him make 64 yards - to become the 12th player in league history to accomplish the feat.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees also completed 26-for-46 for 330 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions but it was not enough to stop Minnesota.
