Two touchdowns from running back Steve Slaton helped the Houston Texans overcome the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-17 on Monday.
Slaton had lobbied Houston head coach Gary Kubiak during the half-time interval for more ball - and he proved that it was the right call with his late double.
"I didn't run the ball enough in the first half to be honest with you," Kubiak said.
"We got a little out of whack play call-wise, and the kid came up to me at half-time - here's a rookie - grabs me by the shirt to say, 'I'm OK, give me the ball.'"
From the moment Houston took the lead early in the first quarter, they were never behind - with back-up quarterback Sage Rosenfels throwing a 31-yard pass to Andre Johnson.
The Jaguars did score two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late for a side many had tipped for the Super Bowl at the start of the season.
Jacksonville now fall to 4-8 and currently lie bottom of the AFC South.
"Of course, expectations are to be successful, win the division and make the play-offs," Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor said.
"Right now because it's not that, it's tough... We definitely didn't imagine it being this way."
