LT worry for Chargers

Tomlinson: Groin problem

I was sitting there thinking about it last night, scoring 41 points up in Tampa and then turning around and scoring 52. That's pretty good for the National Football League.

The San Diego Chargers are sweating over the fitness of star running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who picked up a groin strain in last week's victory over Denver.

Tomlinson ran in three touchdowns as the Chargers sealed an unlikely play-off berth thanks to a runaway 52-21 win over rivals Denver in the final game of the regular season.

LT came out of the game in the fourth quarter though and scans have revealed a groin strain, with a wild card game coming up against the in-form Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.

"It's a little sore today, groin injuries are always worse the day after," Tomlinson said.

"I don't think I'll be 100% but we'll see what happens. It's day-to-day. We'll see how it goes."

Norv upbeat

Chargers head coach Norv Turner, expects Tomlinson to be able to suit up against the Colts though, although he will be keeping a close eye on him.

"He's a little sore, but again, they expect him, as the week goes on, to get better and be able to practice and be ready to play," Turner said. "We'll keep a close watch on that.

Turner added that tight end Antonio Gates should also be able to play against Indianapolis despite spraining his ankle in Sunday's game.

Tomlinson missed most of the AFC Championship game against New England last year with injury, but is determined to play his part this time around.

The rampaging Colts are just about the last team San Diego would want to face, after Peyton Manning's men have won nine on the spin heading into the post-season.

"You talk about a team that people don't want to play," Tomlinson added. "This has to be one of those teams because they've been playing great football."

Revenge

Indianapolis will have revenge on their minds after losing against San Diego in the division round last year, but the Chargers are in decent form themselves though, becoming the first team to go from 4-8 to make the play-offs.

"Man, over the last two weeks we have played great football," Tomlinson said.

"I was sitting there thinking about it last night, scoring 41 points up in Tampa and then turning around and scoring 52. That's pretty good for the National Football League.

"It's not college, now, you know, Oklahoma scoring 60 points the last five games, but it's pretty good for being in the NFL."
