Brady: Top dog in Boston
Football's not something you can go at 70 or 80 percent, you're either in it all the way or you're not going to last very long, I learned that lesson early.
Tom Brady
Quotes of the week
Just hours after a trans-Atlantic flight and a jet-lagged overnight snooze, Tom Brady was quickly ushered in front of the world's media as soon as he arrived at the Oval, but once more the All-American superstar showed the poise and charm that makes him one of the USA's most-loved sportsmen.
Brady is cool as a cucumber on the field even when faced with a fearsome pass rush, and the New England Patriots quarterback is equally adept at handling the members of the press as he spoke ahead of Sunday's game at Wembley.
Multiple MVP Brady was quickly quizzed on his dress-sense at the Oval, after Wes Welker questioned his constant suit-wearing even on long away days.
"Wes said that? I don't take fashion advice from Wes," Brady beamed. "He doesn't need to be getting involved in what I'm wearing.
"I always wear a suit, I think it looks good for the team to be dressed well, I'm trying to set the tone for the team but they've not quite followed me yet."
Brady definitely wears the trousers in the Patriots' offence, as he showed last week with six touchdown passes in a 59-0 route of the Titans, showing he is fully over his knee injury - a worrying sign indeed for the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers who face him on Sunday.
Bringing one of the best quarterbacks in history to Wembley is a big step forward for the NFL International series, as the sport continues to grow in the UK.
"People in England hopefully in the last few years with the NFL being here, more people are starting to get into our football," added Brady, who is aware of the history of both Wembley and Surrey's county cricket base at the Oval.
"It look a lot longer, maybe they've done it in metres or something.
"The Oval here is pretty cool, and from what I understand it I hear England won the Ashes here against Australia, that's what I heard coming over here.
"It definitely feels different to a normal game. Playing Wembley will be a lot of fun for us, we've heard a lot of great things about the stadium."
Brady has three Super Bowl rings and two MVPs from the big games, but he still had the drive and determination to fight back from injury -and that comes from his pure love of playing.
"I really love playing the game playing at this level," he said. "When I was a kid I loved playing the game, I loved watching the San Francisco 49ers of the 1980s. Then I got drafted by the Patriots almost ten years ago, who for me are the best organisation in the NFL
"It's an honour and privilege for me to play for this team. It's not something that I take very lightly at all. There are only a couple of really important things in my life and this is right at the top of the list.
"Football's not something you can go at 70 or 80 per cent, you're either in it all the way or you're not going to last very long. I learned that lesson early."
