Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis is 'no longer actively involved with the organisation'.

Local media earlier reported that Kokinis had been escorted out of the Browns' facility by security, but that was denied in a statement from the team on Monday.

"Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis is no longer actively involved with the organisation," read the Browns' statement.

"In response to rumours and reports that Kokinis was escorted out of the building today, the Browns deny those reports.

"In the interest of protecting the parties involved we will withhold further comment."

Kokinis had been in his first year as general manager of the struggling franchise, who currently have a 1-7 record this season.

He was hired to work alongside new head coach Eric Mangini last January.
