Henry: Broken arm
Cincinnati Bengals have lost wide receiver Chris Henry for the rest of the season after he underwent surgery on a broken arm.
Henry suffered the break on his only reception of Sunday's win against Baltimore, with the wideout landing on his back after making the catch and Ravens cornerback Fabian Washington falling on his left arm.
The Bengals have placed Henry on injured reserve and have brought in offensive guard Scott Kooista back onto their roster after he was released a week ago.
Worryingly for Henry, he is in the final year of his contract with the Bengals, who had released him in 2007 after he was arrested for a fifth time as his off-field problems mounted.
Owner Mike Brown changed his mind and Henry has been out of trouble since signing a new two-year deal, and has now started to assert himself with the team.
Henry is the fourth receiver on the team with 12 catches for 236 yards and two touchdowns this season, and had just been getting over a thigh injury.
"He was excited to play yesterday," coach Marvin Lewis said. "I don't know that I've ever seen him that excited to play, and it's unfortunate he got hurt.
"You could tell he felt good after the time off and getting his legs back and under him."
Sunday's win put the Bengals on 6-2 for the season ahead of next Sunday's huge AFC North showdown with Super Bowl winners Pittsburgh, who are also 6-2 after Monday night's win in Denver.
Lewis says the Bengals could promote receiver Maurice Purify from the practice squad, or could give second-year man Jerome Simpson a chance to prove himself after struggling to adapt to the NFL so far.
"We could move Maurice up," Lewis said. "We'll look at the best options because with that, it's a matter of who can I get the most snaps out of on Sunday. That's the important part."
