The New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts remained undefeated while the Cincinnati Bengals took hold of the AFC North with a massive win on the road in week 10 of the season.

Peyton Manning was in his element as the Colts overturned a 17-point deficit in the final quarter to edge out the New England Patriots 35-34, a win aided by Patriots head coach Bill Belichick's controversial call to go for it on fourth down late in the game.

The Bengals maintained their perfect record in divisional play with an 18-12 triumph over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.

Reggie Bush helped the Saints improve to 9-0 with a hard-fought win over the struggling St Louis Rams, while Minnesota are now 8-1 for the year after easing past the Detroit Lions.

Elsewhere, Josh Scobee's field goal lifted the Jaguars to a rare win on the road over the Jets, while Chris Johnson flourished as Tennessee continued their revival by crushing the Bills.

Cincinnati Bengals 18-12 Pittsburgh Steelers

Cincinnati swept a series against divisional rivals Pittsburgh for the first time in nine years thanks to a big play from their special teams unit and the trusty boot of Shayne Graham.

The Bengals managed the only touchdown of the AFC North contest when Bernard Scott returned a kick-off 96 yards in the opening quarter.

Graham provided the rest of the visitors' points, slotting over field goals from 23, 32, (twice) and 43 yards, all of them coming in the second half.

However success on the road came at a price for Cincinnati, who are now 7-2 for the season and 5-0 in divisional play, as they lost star running back Cedric Benson to injury.

The Steelers, who suffered a blow themselves when Troy Polamalu had to leave the game with a knee problem, only managed four field goals from Jeff Reed as they lost for the first time at Heinz Field in 11 outings.

New Orleans Saints 28-23 St. Louis Rams

New Orleans survived a scare in St Louis to move to 9-0 - the best start ever in the franchise's history.

Reggie Bush scored on the ground and through the air to helps the Saints overcome a sloppy display on the road against a team with just one win to their name this year.

The visitors were also helped out by a special teams TD - Courtney Roby returning a kick-off 97 yards - while Drew Brees and Robert Meachem hooked up for a fourth-quarter score that proved crucial.

Steven Jackson rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown for the Rams while Donnie Avery also reeled in two scoring passes from quarterback Marc Bulger, who was picked off once and also coughed up a fumble.

Detroit Lions 10-27 Minnesota Vikings

Brett Favre passed for a season-high 344 yards, 201 of them to receiver Sidney Rice, as the Minnesota Vikings cruised past the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings overcame a season-high 13 penalties thanks mostly to the Favre-Rice combination that has become a potent part of their offence.

Kevin Smith's fumble - forced and recovered by Ray Edwards - on the first play of the third quarter set up Adrian Peterson for a 27-yard run and a 1-yard score from the tail-back soon after put the Vikings 17-3 ahead.

Early in the fourth, Favre found Rice open for a 56-yard pass to set up a short touchdown toss to Jeff Dugan, essentially sealing the victory and moving the Vikings closer to clinching the NFC North.

Buffalo Bills 17-41 Tennessee Titans

The Titans moved to 3-0 since Vince Young was installed at quarterback - though once again it was Chris Johnson who was the star of the show.

Tail-back Johnson not only rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on the ground but also contributed 100 yards receiving on nine catches.

Young played his part in the win, though, hooking up with Nate Washington for an early score before the result was confirmed by two defensive TDs - both interception returns - in the final quarter.

The Bills managed a pair of touchdowns from Lee Evans - one coming on a pass from running back Fred Jackson out of the wildcat offence - in the opening half but could only muster a Rian Lindell field goal after the interval.

Atlanta Falcons 19-28 Carolina Panthers

Jake Delhomme went turnover-free for the third straight game, finding Steve Smith for two touchdowns, as the Carolina Panthers held on for a 28-19 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

The Panthers (4-5) built a 21-10 half-time lead, but the win wasn't sealed until Richard Marshall picked off Matt Ryan, setting up Jonathan Stewart's 45-yard touchdown run with just after two minutes left.

As if the defeat wasn't bad enough for the Falcons, they lost starting running back Michael Turner to an ankle injury in the second quarter.

The Panthers also picked up a key injury, starting right tackle Jordan Gross suffering a broken ankle that could end his season early.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-25 Miami Dolphins

Quarterback Chad Henne kept his cool in the fourth quarter to help the Miami Dolphins to a 25-23 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Henne directed a 77-yard scoring drive that ended with Dan Carpenter kicking a 25-yard field goal with 10 seconds left to give the Dolphins the glory.

The Bucs had produced a brave comeback, Josh Freeman rallying his team in the fourth quarter for the second time in two NFL starts. The rookie shook off an awful first half and led his team to a pair of late touchdowns.

Tampa moved ahead when linebacker Quincy Black intercepted Henne at the Dolphins' 26 in the final two minutes, setting up Carnell Williams' one-yard touchdown run to put his team ahead - albeit only briefly.

Jacksonville Jaguars 24-22 New York Jets

The Jacksonville Jaguars boosted their play-off chances with a 24-22 win as they sent the New York Jets to another devastating loss.

Josh Scobee kicked a 21-yard field goal as time expired, making up for an earlier miss, to give the Jaguars victory.

Thomas Jones had given the Jets a 22-21 lead on a one-yard touchdown dive but Braylon Edwards dropped the two-point conversion attempt.

At that stage the Jets looked good, but their defence - which had trouble all day, especially in the first half - couldn't hold the Jaguars.

Denver Broncos 17-27 Washington Redskins

Washington scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to end a four-game losing streak and consign Denver to a third straight defeat.

Brandon Marshall caught scoring passes of 40 and 75 yards from Kyle Orton to help Denver move into a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

A Matt Prater field goal also meant they were in front 17-14 at the break despite punter Hunter Smith throwing a touchdown pass to Mike Sellers for Washington.

However Ladell Betts' one-yard run, sandwiched in between a pair of Shaun Suisham fiels goals, clinched the Redskins' third victory of an otherwise disappointing campaign.

New England Patriots 34-35 Indianapolis Colts

Peyton Manning helped inspire Indianapolis as the Colts came back from 17 points down to beat the Patriots.

Three touchdown passes from Tom Brady - including two to Randy Moss - looked set to end the Colts' unbeaten record.

However Manning found Pierre Garcon from 29 yards and then handed off for Joseph Addai to rush for a touchdown to bring the Colts back into the game.

Manning then found Reggie Wayne from one yard with 13 seconds left and Matt Stover kicked the extra point to snatch the victory after a tactical gamble from New England head coach Bill Belichick had backfired.

With the Patriots leading 34-28 and in possession of the ball on their own 28-yard line, Belichick opted to go for it on fourth and two.

Kevin Faulk hauled in Brady's short pass but was tackled just short of the first down marker by Melvin Bullitt, giving Indianapolis the ball in prime territory. Manning did the rest.

Dallas Cowboys 7-17 Green Bay Packers

Solid defence laid the platform for Green Bay as they ended the four-game winning streak of Dallas.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was sacked five times, with Charles Woodson forcing two fumbles and completing an interception.

The Packers took a 3-0 lead in the fourth quarter before quarterback Aaron Rodgers rushed a yard for a touchdown and then found rookie tight end Spencer Havner for the decisive score.

Romo did find wide receiver Roy Williams with less than a minute left but it was little consolation.

And things were worse for Dallas as they lost right tackle Marc Colombo with a broken left leg.

Philadelphia Eagles 23-31 San Diego Chargers

San Diego moved into a share of the lead in the AFC West division with Denver after they saw off Philadelphia.

LaDainian Tomlinson led the way as he rushed for 96 yards and scored two touchdowns to help the Chargers to a fourth straight victory.

Donovan McNabb battled in vain for the Eagles as he completed 35 of 55, including two late touchdowns, and threw a season-high 450 yards.

Seattle Seahawks 20-31 Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals rallied to strengthen their position in the NFC West division.

Kurt Warner completed 29 of 38 for 340 yards and two touchdown passes, with rookie Beanie Wells scoring twice to make the game safe.

Arizona move to 6-3 for the season, while Seattle have slipped to 3-6.

Kansas City Chiefs 16-10 Oakland Raiders

Kansas recorded their seventh straight win in Oakland as they toppled the Raiders.

The Chiefs may have only won five of their last 35 games, however they seem to have no trouble winning at the Oakland Coliseum.

Jamaal Charles rushed from 44 yards, while a late interception completed the win.
