Pittsburgh Steelers are waiting to find out whether Ben Roethlisberger is set be sidelined after he was knocked out against Kansas City Chiefs.
The Steelers' visit to Arrowhead Stadium saw Roethlisberger leave the field in overtime of the 27-24 loss after apparently taking a knee to the helmet when he was sacked.
The quarterback, who featured in last season's Super Bowl victory, had thrown for 398 yards and three touchdowns before sustaining the injury.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin revealed he is unsure of the seriousness of the problem at this stage.
"He took a blow, needless to say, it was a concussion-oriented thing so I doubt he was going to come back into the football game," said Tomlin.
"I don't have a lot of information in terms of where he is or his level of availability. We will have more information as we proceed."
Pittsburgh's depth at quarterback is further depleted by a wrist injury to Roethlisberger's back-up Charlie Batch.
Batch, who missed all of last season with a broken collarbone, sustained the problem after replacing Roethlisberger for the final four snaps against the Chiefs.
He requires an operation on his left wrist and is expected to miss at least six weeks.
