Kurt Warner was forced out of Arizona Cardinals' 21-13 triumph over St. Louis after sustaining a head injury.

The injury dampened an otherwise victorious visit to quarterback Warner's former stomping ground, with the Super Bowl star departing in the second quarter.

Warner appeared to be hurt when his head was driven into the turf on a blitz and the 38-year-old stayed on the ground for several seconds.

However, Warner got up and stayed in the game for the last six plays of a 90-yard drive before being replaced late in the second quarter by Matt Leinart as a precaution for what the team branded "concussion-related symptoms".

"I felt pretty good coming out right after halftime, but I just wanted to be smart," said Warner.

"It was one of those situations where I didn't feel perfect."

Warner is expected to be available for Cardinals' forthcoming trip to Tennessee to face the Titans.
