Green Bay have brought in cornerback Josh Bell from Denver to help with their defensive injury crisis ahead of Thursday's Thanksgiving Day trip to Detroit, which is live on Sky Sports 3.

The Packers moved to 6-4 for the season and right back into the play-off picture with a win over San Francisco on Sunday, but the win came at a price.

Cornerback Al Harris and linebacker Aaron Kampman were both knocked out for the rest of the season through injury to diminish the Packers' defensive options.

The Packers have responded quickly by signing Bell from the Broncos to add more depth to their options in the secondary.

Bell started five games for the Broncos last season, but was cut before the start of the current season, and he could well now get his chance at Lambeau Field.

Lions roar

Green Bay head to Motor City for Detroit's annual Thanksgiving Day game with the Lions unusually on a high after a rare victory.

And it was no ordinary win as the Lions won a shootout with the Cleveland Browns with a last-second touchdown from Brandon Pettigrew.

Detroit has big injury problems though and rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford, who threw that winning pass, seems likely to miss out after picking up a shoulder injury.

"He's extremely sore today," head coach Jim Schwartz said. "Most of the tests have come back, and there doesn't appear to be any long-term structural damage, but there's a lot of pain. If that continues, he'd be unlikely to play on Thursday, but we're not closing the door on anything yet.

"If we were playing on Sunday, there would be more of a chance for Matt, but we've got to move extremely fast this week. Today's like a Thursday for us."

Stafford and star wide receiver Calvin Johnson both sat out practice and both seem big doubts for the Packers game, with Johnson suffering hand and knee problems.

Stafford set a rookie record with 422 passing yards against Cleveland while Johnson had his best haul of 161 receiving yards, and they would be huge losses for Detroit on Thursday.
