Kallis: New recruit

Jacques Kallis and Chris Gayle are amongst the latest international recruits to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

South African all-rounder Kallis, paceman Makhaya Ntini and wicketkeeping-batsman Mark Boucher have all joined the list of 49 international stars now signed for the new Twenty20 competition.

West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and big-hitter Gayle have also joined the tournament, which starts in April.

The league was launched by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to counter the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

Former Proteas batsman Dale Benkenstein has joined the ICL meanwhile, effectively bringing an end to his 15-year association with KwaZulu-Natal cricket.

Cricket South Africa's policy to ban any cricketer who play in the league has left the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union with no alternative but to release Benkenstein from his contract.
