Martin: One-day chance
New Zealand have added Craig Cumming and Chris Martin to their squad for the one-day series against South Africa following the withdrawal of James Franklin.
Franklin is set to undergo knee surgery which will rule him out of the one-day series, which starts on November 25.
Both Martin and Cumming are currently playing for the Black Caps in their Test series in South Africa, and will now stay the one-day leg that follows.
New Zealand Cricket selection manager Sir Richard Hadlee said that Franklin's unavailability led to the duo being retained for the one-dayers.
"Franklin will not be available for the immediate future, and his withdrawal leaves the squad lacking his versatile set of skills," Hadlee said.
"However, the retention of Cumming and Martin from the Black Caps Test squad will restore balance to the ODI squad.
"Having originally named a 14-man squad for South Africa, both these players can be accommodated in the squad."
New Zealand squad: Daniel Vettori (captain), Shane Bond, Craig Cumming, Mark Gillespie, Gareth Hopkins, Jamie How, Chris Martin, Michael Mason, Kyle Mills, Brendon McCullum, Jacob Oram, Jeetan Patel, Scott Styris, Ross Taylor, Lou Vincent
