Pollock: Emotional goodbye
Shaun Pollock reflected on the 'wonderful journey' that was his South Africa career, as he said goodbye to international cricket by hitting the winning runs against West Indies.
Pollock was promoted up to number four in the batting line-up and hit the winning runs as the Proteas claimed an eight-wicket win that gave them a 5-0 series whitewash.
The 34-year-old could not have wished for a better way to end his international career, which also saw him captain his country.
A veteran seamer of great quality, Pollock leaves with 421 Test wickets and 393 in limited overs, while he was also more than handy with the bat with 3,781 Test runs and 3,510 in one-dayers.
After an emotional send-off at a packed out Wanderers, Pollock said that he had enjoyed a wonderful career and was happy with the timing of his retirement.
"It's been a wonderful journey but retiring is all good," said Pollock. "I have a real peace about it.
"It's been a great profession to have for the last 13 years and I would do it all again. It was a perfect end.
"I've been blown away by the reception at every match. It could have been sad but I'll take away fond memories because the crowds have carried me."
