Clarke: Fit and fresh to play
After delaying his trip to the Caribbean due to family reasons, Australia batsman Michael Clarke departed for the West Indies on Friday.
By remaining in Australia due to the death of his fiancées father, Clarke missed the first Test. He says he is now eager to continue his cricketing duties.
He told reporters: "I'm feeling good and I'm feeling fresh, so I'm as keen as mustard. I've had a lot of time to make sure I'm fit and healthy."
Noting the good recent form of recalled batsmen Simon Katich and Brad Hodge, Clarke is aware he may not play in the second Test starting in Antigua on May 30.
"If you miss a game like me, unfortunately at the moment there's somebody else who will take your place and do very well," Clarke said. "The selectors have a very hard job, it will be interesting to see."
