Kallis: Fully fit

Jacques Kallis has warned England to expect a South African backlash ahead of the second match in the NatWest series on Tuesday.

The Proteas go into the day-night clash at Trent Bridge, which is live on Sky Sports, 1-0 down following a 20-run defeat at Headingley Carnegie last Friday.

All-rounder Kallis described the display in Leeds as "probably one of the worst in two years", admitting they have to improve in all departments if they are to draw level.

However, needing to win the series 4-1 to take over from Australia at the top of the ICC ODI rankings, the 32-year-old believes Kevin Pietersen's side will come up against a much-improved South Africa in Nottingham.

Disappointed

"They certainly played well but we were more disappointed in our performance," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was probably the worst one-day international we have played in two years.

"We pride ourselves on our performance. The one we put in the other night was not up to scratch and we feel we are a lot better side than that.

"We've got to improve in all departments. From a batting point of view we lost wickets at key moments and certainly up to standard in the field.

"We've had a couple of days now to get out and practice and chat about it. Hopefully we can come out tomorrow and turn the tables."

Kallis managed a top score of 52 in a losing cause for the South Africans despite being hampered by an injury he picked up while fielding.

No damage

"It's all good," he replied when asked about his fitness for the second of five matches.

"I've had a couple of days to assess it and there's no damage. I had a good practice yesterday and so everything is good going forward."

South Africa do though have injury concerns over brothers Albie and Morne Morkel. Both players missed the opening game but could return on Tuesday.

"I haven't spoken to the physio too much but I think they will try to get a practice in and see how they come through that," Kallis added.
