Andrew Strauss has agreed a new contract with Middlesex that commits him to the county until the end of the 2010 season.

The opening batsman, 31, made his first-class debut in 1998 and has been awarded a benefit year in 2009.

Strauss' appearances for Middlesex have been limited in recent years by his international commitments with England.

The left-hander has appeared in 53 Tests and 78 ODIs and remains an integral member of the Test side.

Henderson extension

Meanwhile, Tyron Henderson has also signed a new deal with Middlesex.

The South African-born all-rounder, 34, was a key factor in the Twenty20 Cup win this season.

His new contract keeps him at Lord's until September 2009, although it is subject to an extension of his current work permit.

"It's been a fantastic year for me at Middlesex, and with such an exciting, talented young squad, I'm really looking forward to our winter tournaments in Antigua and India, and to helping Middlesex achieve more silverware in 2009," said Henderson.
