Tendulkar: Taking a break
England will not have to face Sachin Tendulkar in the first three matches of the upcoming seven-game one-day series against India.
The legendary batsman has been rested following the Test series against Australia but is likely to be considered for the final four matches.
Tendulkar, who has scored a world-record 16,361 runs in 417 ODIs, has not played in the one-day side since the tri-series victory over Australia in March.
"Considering the hectic schedule ahead and the amount of cricket he has already played this season, Sachin Tendulkar requested that he be rested for the first three ODIs," Indian board secretary N. Srinivasan said. "The selectors accepted his request."
The BCCI have included Murali Vijay in their 15-man squad, the batsman who will play in the fourth Test against Australia starting on Thursday in place of the suspended Gautam Gambhir.
Vijay is the only newcomer to the squad while Virender Sehwag returns after missing the trip to Sri Lanka in the summer with an ankle injury.
Of those who toured Sri Lanka, Subramaniam Badrinath, Praveen Kumar, Parthiv Patel and Irfan Pathan have been left out.
England will arrive in Mumbai on Thursday and will two practice matches before the first one-day international in Rajkot on November 14.
India squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Rudra Pratap Singh, Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay.
