Oram: Injury blow
The Chennai Super Kings have not named injured New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram in their squad for the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 tournament.
The hard-hitting Kiwi has been plagued with a nagging back injury and has since missed the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur last month and been ruled out of the forthcoming Test series with Australia.
Oram has been back home for treatment on the injury, however it has been confirmed that the 30-year-old is yet to recover.
India bowler Joginder Sharma has also not been named in the Super Kings' squad due to a heel injury.
"We have almost all our overseas stars available which means some of the Indian cricketers have missed out," the Super Kings' director of cricket operations VB Chandrasekar told the Hindu.
"Of course, we would have loved to have Oram, who can be influential."
The Super Kings will be coached by former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who succeeds Kepler Wessels after the South Africans contract was not renewed.
Chennai Super Kings team: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, Subramaniam Badrinath, Chamara Kapugedara, Arun Karthik, Parthiv Patel, R. Ashwin, Muttiah Muralitharan, Makhaya Ntini, Laxmipathy Balaji, Manpreet Gony, Sudip Tyagi.
Coach: Stephen Fleming.
IPLside Bangalore Royal Challengers have also been dealt an injury blow and are looking for a replacement for Australia paceman Nathan Bracken.
Let-arm paceman Bracken was bought for $325,000 at the IPL auction earlier this year but did not play a single match due to a knee injury.
"Bracken has not signed his contract with us," team chief Vijay Mallya said.
"This allows us to get an international player in his place. We have begun negotiations with a few players. The process is ongoing."
