New Zealand have recalled opener Jesse Ryder for the fifth and final one-day international against West Indies on Tuesday.

The left-hander was dropped for the fourth match of the series after missing a team meeting and training session following a night out in Auckland.

However, Black Caps coach Andy Moles insisted there was no hesitation in recalling the 24-year-old for the deciding match in Napier.

In Ryder's absence, Martin Guptill hammered an unbeaten century on debut in Saturday's rained out contest at Eden Park.

Moles also confirmed that despite his impressive 122 not out, Guptill would drop down a place in the order to bat at number three.

Match-winner

"Jesse is a match-winner opening the batting," the Black Caps coach said. "He and Brendon (McCullum) are a formidable pair.

"Jesse assures us it's a thing of the past and we have to move on with that in mind."

Ryder apologised to his team-mates at training in Auckland and was also fined at a disciplinary hearing.

He missed the tour to England last year through injury having put his hand through a toilet window that had been accidently locked.

Michael Sinclair, who was called up to replace Ryder, drops out of the squad entirely for the final ODI of a series that is locked at 1-1.
