Tillakaratne Dilshan is expected to be fit for the opening Test of Sri Lanka's tour of India.

The versatile batsman suffered an ankle injury during net practice on Wednesday but team manager Brendon Kuruppu says the problem is not serious.

"It's a minor ankle sprain," Kuruppu confirmed on Thursday after wet conditions in Mumbai meant no play was possible in Sri Lanka's tour game against an Indian Board President's XI for the second day in a row.

"He batted today (at the indoor nets). He should be okay in a couple of days. As of now the reports are very positive."

The three-match series starts in Ahmedabad on November 16.

Sri Lanka have never won a Test on Indian soil in 14 attempts.
