James Anderson has enjoyed his enforced break from cricket and says he is now raring to go for the new domestic season.

Anderson says he has not had a real chance to build some real fitness up for some time, but after recovering from his knee injury he is now working hard with Lancashire.

A knee problem ruled Anderson out of the tour of Bangladesh, but it has been a blessing in disguise as he has been able to work hard on his all-round fitness.

"It's been brilliant," Anderson said on the Sky Sports News podcast. I've really enjoyed the rest.

"I've not has this opportunity to get really fit for quite a long time, I feel like I've used the time off well. Training's gone well, I've just started bowling again and fingers crossed things keep continuing like this"

Anderson hopes to get a few games under his belt for Lancashire, and then return to the England side for the summer and ultimately the Ashes this winter.

Anderson also caught up with Andrew Flintoff as he was back in the country, and says the former England all-rounder was in high spirits as he battles his way back from injury.
