It has been claimed that a fourth member of the Pakistan cricket team has been questioned by the International Cricket Council over the alleged 'spot-fixing' betting scam.

Last weekend the News of the World published allegations that Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were involved in a betting scam that saw the Pakistan seamers deliberately bowling no-balls in the fourth Test at Lord's.

Now the same newspaper has stated that another, as yet unnamed, member of the side was involved and has already been quizzed by the ICC.

The Metropolitan police have declined to say whether they have spoken to a fourth player over the allegations.

Meanwhile, the newspaper also quotes Pakistan batsman Yasir Hameed as claiming that some of his team-mates were regularly involved in match-fixing during Test cricket, including the second Test against Australia in Sydney last January that saw Pakistan collapse to defeat.

Hameed is quoted in the News of the World as saying: "They were doing it (fixing) in almost every match. God knows what they were up to. Scotland Yard was after them for ages.

"It makes me angry because I'm playing my best and they are trying to lose. Only the ones that get caught are branded crooks.

"They were doing it (fixing) in almost every match. God knows what they were up to. Scotland Yard was after them for ages."

However, there are now reports in Pakistan that Hameed has denied making the comments to the newspaper.

Butt, Asif and Amir have all been suspended by the ICC pending an enquiry into the 'spot-fixing' scandal after being charged with "various offences" under their anti-corruption code.

On Friday the trio were released without charge after being questioned by the police over the betting scandal.

Waheed Nazir says...

The ODI match at Headingley Leeds was one of the best crowds I have seen for a while as, the Pakistan supporters were cheering their team from every ball bowled. With the allegations that have gone on with the 3 players involved I think the supporters have always given their support to the team a 100% and always will. I think that the appeal system we have in test matches should be thought about in the ODI matches too.

How long does it take to brand these cheats for what they are? The evidence is blaitent and I sincerely doubt the News of the World would sacrifice their reputation by setting up the Pakistan Cricket team. Ban the players involved and lets get back to the traditional game of cricket we all used to love. If that means Pakistan can''t take part any longer then so be it, they are a disgrace.

SAD Story ! but who knows who to believe. for all we know Yasir Hameed could be getting paid to say these stuff. He said "I''m playing my best and they are trying to lose". Sorry mate you was a rubbish player. your best game was your first game, when you scored 2 centuries apart from that ican''t remember a decent game you had played. Sorry i don''t blame the lads earning a bit more cash on the side through match fixing. Think about it this way stuart broad is on a 7 figure contract after sponsors, Ishant sharma was on a fat IPL contract. And our boy Mohmmed Amir is earning just above £1000 a month. KNOW COME ON, HE ''S NOT EXACTLY THINKING OF BUYING A LAMBORGHINI WITH THAT MONEY. HE''S THINKING OF PROVIDING FOR HIS FAMILY WHO ARE STRUGGLING BACK IN PAKISTAN!

The number of times Butt did not go ahead with UDR in what seemed to sure/close LBW probabilities then seemed strange and now perhaps are worth a re-visit.

Whilst it is all well and good to talk about life bans for the players involved in this scandal (assuming they are found guilty of spot fixing) - it is the ''agents'' who arrange these deals that should go to jail for lengthy periods. They are ruining the lives of exceptional talents like Mohammed Amir. They are the sharks, the greedy underhand scum who should do real time.
