Cash: gave Q&A session
Seven young people from a South London school enjoyed a unique tennis masterclass from Pat Cash through the Sky Sports Living for Sport scheme.
The former Wimbledon men's singles champion and Sky Sports presenter talked students from The Norwood School in South London through tennis basics at The O2 Arena on Thursday - the same day that Andy Murray played Fernando Verdasco in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Seven young people from The Norwood School, which currently runs a Sky Sports Living for Sports programme, were given the masterclass on The O2 practice court.
The class was overseen by Cash and former British tennis player and Sky Sports commentator Barry Cowan. The veteran English and Australian athletes then joined forces to share their experiences in a Q&A session with the youngsters, with the aim of learning new skills and discovering the enjoyment that can be gained from taking part in sport.
Cash said: "I really enjoyed getting on-court and helping some of the young people on the Sky Sports Living for Sport scheme to learn new tennis skills.
It's a really positive initiative which motivates and inspires thousands of young people through sport.
I was helped by a variety of people throughout my career and fully appreciate how beneficial mentoring and sport can be for young people."
Sky Sports Living for Sport, available to all secondary schools in the UK, uses sport to motivate and inspire 11 to 16 year olds to excel. The free initiative was created by the Youth Sport Trust in partnership with Sky.
