Moores: heads our initiative

Sky Sports is the proud sponsors of the ECB Coaching Development Programme.

In its first year, the scheme reached over 5,500 coaches throughout the country - more than 50 per cent higher than its initial target.

This exciting new initiative, with England head coach Peter Moores as the main ambassador, is now in its second year of sponsorship.

The scheme has so far been involved in developing five key areas:

ECB Coaching Badges - certifying Coaches at Level 1,2,3 and 4 of the ECB Coaching Badges

Cricket Young Leaders - teaching basic leadership skills for 14-18 year olds.

Training Methods Workshops - providing further training for coaching assistants.

Working in Schools Programme - provides training for coaches to work in the school environment.

Initial Teacher Training - coaches take part while studying their degrees.

Alongside this, Sky Sports runs a Coach Recognition scheme at the England Test Matches rewarding local coaches.

The their hard work and dedication to grassroots cricket is recognised and as a reward, they are taken to the Test where they are presented with a certificate by the likes of Sir Ian Botham, Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton, David Lloyd and the rest of our star-studded cricket commentary team.

Each year, the scheeme culminates in a Sky Sports Coach of the Year award ceremony which, this year, is taking place at the Lord's in the Long Room, with Mike Gatting and other past cricketing heroes in attendance.
