Carter: Double celebration
It's a real honour to come out on top and be named the 2010 FTI MVP. It's a massive incentive for the players, I think they all realise that it is a true reflection of your performances throughout the season
Neil Carter
Quotes of the week
Warwickshire's Neil Carter is the 2010 FTI Most Valuable Player (MVP) after a fantastic season that has seen him take 80 wickets and score 1270 runs.
The award is the second the 35-year-old has collected this week after he was also crowned NatWest PCA Player of the Year.
Carter has been in impressive form all season and his final points tally of 647 was the highest in the FTI MVP rankings history.
The all-rounder's consistency has seen him finish second in both the LV= County Championship FTI MVP and the Clydesdale Bank 40 FTI MVP as well as win the monthly awards in both April and July.
Speaking on his achievement, Carter said: "I won the first FTI MVP monthly award in April and felt that was a great achievement but I never imagined that I would stay top for the rest of the season.
"It's a real honour to come out on top and be named the 2010 FTI MVP. It's a massive incentive for the players, I think they all realise that it is a true reflection of your performances throughout the season."
Commenting on the award, Dennis Shaughnessy, Chairman of FTI Consulting added: "Neil has set the pace in the FTI MVPs all season.
"Having picked up the monthly awards in both April and July he has consistently kept the chasing pack at bay, culminating in his collecting the overall FTI MVP for the 2010 season.
"Neil has delivered consistently excellent performances and this award is recognition of that, many congratulations."
Yorkshire's Adil Rashid finished in second place, 47 points behind the winner.
Rashid accrued 600 points taking 95 wickets and scoring 904 runs throughout the season and topped the LV=County Championship FTI MVP rankings.
Alfonso Thomas of Somerset was county cricket's leading wicket taker finishing with 109 wickets across all competitions, enough to secure a third place finish in the overall FTI MVP rankings.
The final FTI MVP monthly award of the season was won by Moeen Ali, who was in prolific form for Worcestershire throughout September.
Ali took 6-39 and scored 147 runs against Middlesex in the penultimate game of the season and went on to score 115 in the second innings against Sussex in the final game, helping the 22-year-old to a total of 103.69 points in September.
A monthly FTI MVP award has been announced throughout the summer for the leading points scorer across the LV= County Championship, Friends Provident t20 and Clydesdale Bank 40 for that month.
Alongside Neil Carter (April & July) and Moeen Ali (September) the monthly award winners during the 2010 season were Ryan ten Doeschate (May), Chaminda Vaas (June) and Marcus Trescothick (August).
