Otto: two 67s
South African Hennie Otto retained his four-shot lead after the second round of the Madeira Islands Open was completed on Saturday.
A two-and-a-half hour delay caused by strong winds meant 72 players were unable to complete their rounds on Friday - including Sven Struver and Fredrik Widmark who stood joint second on six-under when proceedings were halted.
However, the duo were unable to make up any further ground on Otto as both stayed on six-under after coming home with rounds of 72 and 70 respectively.
Struver parred all nine of his remaining holes, while Widmark endured a double-bogey at the tenth before fighting back with three birdies on the back-nine to maintain his challenge.
Pre-tournament favourite Bradley Dredge is 11 strokes adrift following a 75 in which he dropped five shots on the last six holes.
The Welshman needs to win to move back into the world's top 50 a week before the cut-off for the Masters.
Former Open champion Paul Lawrie withdrew with back trouble - he had opened with a 76 - while Dredge's World Cup-winning partner, Stephen Dodd, only managed to add a 79 to his first-round 75.
Otto is trying to regain his European Tour card and the highlight of his round was an eagle two at the 395-yard 10th.
He followed that with birdies on the 12th and 14th for an inward 32.
American Notah Begay - four times a winner on the PGA Tour and a former Presidents Cup player - is one under par and joint 15th after seven holes of his second round.
