World number two Phil Mickelson will play with fellow Americans Davis Love III and Rich Beem in the first two rounds of the USPGA Championship. All three are former winners of the season's fourth and final major.
Left-hander Mickelson, who won the event at Baltusrol in 2005, will be the highest-ranked player in the field in the absence of injured 2007 champion and world number one Tiger Woods.
Open champion Padraig Harrington has been grouped with Masters champion Trevor Immelman of South Africa and Argentina's former US Open champion Angel Cabrera for the first two rounds at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan.
In other high-profile groupings, Australian world number four Adam Scott will play alongside fifth-ranked South African Ernie Els and American former Masters champion Fred Couples, while Australian Geoff Ogilvy will play with England's Lee Westwood and another former Augusta winner, American Zach Johnson.
Eight-time European number one Colin Montgomerie will partner former world number two Jim Furyk and Australian tyro Aaron Baddeley. The 45-year-old Scot will be attempting to win his first major at the 67th attempt.
