Romero: Title joy
This is the best trophy of my career. I won nine tournaments in Europe and 85 tournaments in South America but this is the most important tournament, of course.
Eduardo Romero
Quotes of the week
Eduardo Romero admitted it was like a "dream coming true" after lifting the US Senior Open in Colorado Springs on Sunday.
The Argentinean carded a three-over-par 73 in the final round, but his total of 274 was still good enough to see him finish four shots clear of American Fred Funk.
Funk was let down by a triple-bogey on the 13th and finished with a round of 75, while Irishman Mark McNulty finished third on one-under after closing with a 68.
The victory means Romero follows in the footsteps of fellow countryman Roberto De Vicenzo in winning the title - and the 54-year-old was delighted.
"Man, I'm so happy, so happy," he said.
"I played great all week, all week long and then today I make a couple mistakes on the back nine. But it was a great, great week, fantastic for Argentina and South America and for Romero, of course.

"This is such a fantastic tournament. It's beautiful. When I come here and play the US Open, I tell you, it's a dream to win a tournament. Finally my dream's coming true."
