Quotes of the week
Sergio Garcia will carry a three-shot lead into the final round of the Tour Championship after firing a 67 at East Lake Golf Club on Saturday.
The Spaniard's three-under effort moved him to eight-under-par for the tournament, three ahead of Ryder Cup foe Anthony Kim.
Kim, who set the tone for the United States' Ryder Cup triumph by beating Garcia 5&4 during the opening singles last Sunday, hit a spectator with an errant tee shot at the par-five ninth during a disappointing third round of 72.
"AK (Kim) wasn't on his 'A' game today," said Garcia, who made his move with two late birdies at the 15th and 17th.
"He scrambled nicely but unfortunately he didn't have the best of finishes.
"I managed to make a couple of birdies here and there and played a solid round."
Kim, who led by two at the half-way point, rolled in a 22-footer for birdie at the third but his round was derailed when his wild drive at the ninth struck spectator David Whitfield above the right eye.
Whitfield fell to the ground and required medical treatment before being taken away on a stretcher.
"I felt terrible," Kim said. "You never want to see that anywhere. He's going to need some stitches but he's going to be all right."
Phil Mickelson signed for a 69 to join Kim at five-under, while Camilo Villegas - winner of the BMW Championship three weeks ago - is alone in fourth at three-under after also carding a 69.
Meanwhile, Vijay Singh moved within 18 holes of the FedEx Cup play-off title despite another below-par round.
A 72 was Singh's best score of the week and left him in a tie for 24th at nine-over-par.
The Fijian only has to complete the final round to be crowned the play-off champion and pick up a £5.4million bonus, having already eliminated any suspense by winning the first two events in the series.
