Chopra: defending champion
Daniel Chopra returns to defend his Ginn sur Mer Classic crown in Florida this week hoping to finish the season the same way he started it - with a win.
The Swede clinched the first PGA Tour title of his career at the event 12 months ago as he finished a single shot ahead of Shigeki Maruyama and compatriot Freddie Jacobsen.
That guaranteed him a spot in the 2008 season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship and he kicked off his campaign in the best possible style with a play-off victory over Steve Stricker in Hawaii.
However, the Swede has failed to replicate that form as the year has unfolded, with that success proving his only top-ten finish in 25 outings.
Chopra will be hoping the prospect of defending his crown will be enough to help him rediscover his best form this week, although the tournament has a new venue for 2008, switching from the Tesoro Club to the par-72 Conservatory Course at the Ginn Hammock Beach Resort.
The sixth of the seven Fall Series events on the PGA Tour schedule, it represents the penultimate chance for players to move themselves inside the top 125 on the money list and secure their playing privileges for 2009.
The season concludes next week with the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Magnolia Golf Club, also in Florida.
