Scott: surfing injury
Adam Scott has been forced to pull out of this week's Australian PGA Championship after sustaining a freak surfing injury.
Scott twisted his right knee while making his way from the sea following a session body surfing.
The complaint is not considered serious, but it has done sufficient damage to force him out of the event at Hyatt Regency Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.
"He was coming out of the surf on Sunday morning and he's obviously stood in a sand depression," Scott's manager Justin Cohen stated.
"He went for a body surf and was making his way through the shallow water and twisted his knee a little bit."
Cohen went on to confirm that Scott would undergo precautionary scans, but remained hopeful the 28-year-old would be fit enough to compete in next week's Australian Open in Sydney.
"It's a very minor, little issue with his knee and we fully expect him to be back in action and ready to go for the Aussie Open next week," he said.
Although Scott's withdrawal proved a major blow to tournament organisers, they were given a boost with the news that American John Daly has extended his stay in Australia to play in both the PGA and Open.
