Quotes of the week
A second successive round of 67 moved Vaughn Taylor into the lead at the halfway stage of the Turning Stone Resort Championship.
Tied for second overnight, the American moved to 10 under for the tournament thanks to six birdies in Verona, New York.
The only blemish for Taylor was a bogey on the par-five 11th, though he still finished his round one shot clear at the top of the leaderboard.
Nicholas Thompson, Matt Kuchar and Leif Olson, who had held a share of top spot after the opening round, are all bunched together on nine under.
Low scoring again proved difficult for the field on Friday due to chilly conditions and a rain-softened Atunyote course.
"I'm pleased that I shot four-under today," Kuchar said after his 68.
"It was nasty at the start of the round and nasty at the end of the round. We had a nice little window there for about two hours with pretty fair skies.
"It's amazing we've gotten this in. I feel pretty lucky to have played it. I don't remember ever playing an event with lift, clean and place everywhere. This is new to me.
"I'm assuming we'll do the same tomorrow, but it looks like the forecast is much better for tomorrow, and I think we're all looking forward to a little warmer weather and some drier skies."
Tim Petrovic slipped back from his position alongside Olson at the summit to a three-way tie for eighth after signing for a score of 71.
Australian Adam Scott is one of 10 players on six under, a group that also includes his compatriots John Senden, Aaron Baddeley and Rod Pampling.
England's Justin Rose is a further shot back after shooting 70 but his compatriots Brian Davis and Greg Owen both missed the cut. David Duval also failed to qualify for the weekend despite a second round of 69.
