Woods: tabloid revelations
I think the mystique has gone, the mysterious nature of the guy has gone. He is suddenly - I hate to say - more normal now - if that is normal! There is a mystique which has been lost now and let's hope that golf isn't damaged by that and it shouldn't be.

Quotes of the week
Colin Montgomerie reckons the recent revelations about Tiger Woods' private life will affect the world number one's golf game.
Woods has been the subject of lurid headlines almost daily since his car crash in Florida two weeks ago.
Ryder Cup captain Montgomerie thinks the American's aura of invincibility might well slip due to the recent revelations about his life off the course.
Montgomerie told Sky Sports News: "It will impact on every tournament Tiger plays, I believe. Let's hope the tabloid press finishes quickly and we get on supporting good golf, but it will impact on every tournament that Tiger plays next year.
"I think the mystique has gone, the mysterious nature of the guy has gone. He is suddenly - I hate to say - more normal now - if that is normal! There is a mystique which has been lost now and let's hope that golf isn't damaged by that and it shouldn't be."
And with Woods' golf game potentially weakened by recent events, Montgomerie feels his fellow professionals could reap the benefits.
The Scot added: "There was an aura, and that wall if you like has been split slightly, so there are cracks and I feel that it gives us more opportunity of winning these big events now."

As much as I think Monty may be wrong to say Tiger 's aura may be diminished, I don't agree with some of the comments of the other people here... to say his record is far less superior or that he is not fit to lace Woods' boots is silly! Okay he has no major to his name, but he has 8 Order of Merits!! 7 of which were consecutive, I doubt even Tiger could have done that.

Is that a smile on your face Monty? Who cares what your opinions are... you're not fit to wipe Tiger's ball! Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Monty is a good pro golfer but has never reached the dizzy heights that tiger has attained. Tiger off key will still stuff Monty, remember your comments to a photographer on course Monty class you havn't. Do you really think you have any call calling out Tiger with your track record ? I think not

Tiger is not the only one to have a private life, we all do. Most of us keep the promises we made, he didn't. What goes around comes around. Golf is far bigger than Tiger, all the talk of prize money being higher because of him will fade away, as hopefully the media coverage will. If he can lie to those he supposedly loves, what can the golfing public expect from an adulterer?

Im sorry but i have to disagree with Monty on this one. Woods game will not be affected by these revelations. He be better and stronger when all this blows over. Just because montys game went to pieces after his marriage breakdown doesn't mean tigers will. although comparing tigers game to montys is like comparing asda champayne to moet really... I will say that im shocked like many people of tigers antics. Lets hope golf doesnt suffer in these hards times because of all this, after all the game of golf is as rich as it is because of Tiger woods lets hope he gets this sorted out quickly and gets back on the fairways were he belongs

Tiger will bounce back and in my opinion be a better player, these things must have been on his mind before they were out in the open, now the world knows watch Tiger come back a better player and Husband / father........................ he still has the perfect game and is 2nd to none in this sport !!!

Yeah, Monty you are right that the wall is spilt slightly. Don't worry, even a fallen wall can be restored to as good as original. Tiger will be back soon and take the game of Golf to another higher level of excitement

Monty needs to concentrate on his own game rather than commenting on anyone elses, he didnt deserve the ryder cup captaincy and his game doesn't deserve the attention he still gets. Next time he's in contention for a tournament win fair enough, but for now he should limit his opinions to the ryder cup or his lack of quality.

Oh, Monty. Tiger Woods could crash a space shuttle into the moon and he'd still be ten times the golfer you ever were!

Just because Tigers halo has slipped i dont think Monty will suddenly be topping the leaderboard of any of the big events. We have all seen before how a sports stars personal life can affect their game but to suggest it will take away from Tiger Woods supernatural ability for an entire year is a bit far fetched. Its his private life and as Ryder Cup captain you would think Monty would have a bit more respect for the games biggest attraction instead of trying to bring more attention to the matter.

I think its sad that other players will maybe benefit and jump at the oppurtunity of winning majors competitions due to Tigers down fall. If only some if these golfers like monty could really make a legitimate challenge when tiger is fully focused on his golf.
