Nitties: Flying finish
Australian James Nitties finished with a flourish to grab a share of the delayed Puerto Rico Open at the halfway stage.
The field finally completed 36 holes on Sunday after heavy rain had blighted the tournament, and a flying finish from Nitties saw him join American Chad Collins at the top of the leaderboard.
Nitties birdied his final hole, and eagled his 14th, which was the fifth, to finish on ten-under par after completing a second round 66.
Collins started the day with a birdied after an eagle on Saturday evening just before darkness cut the round short, and he parred the rest of his round to sign for a 65 and his share of the lead.
27-year-old Melbourne golfer Nitties had missed his last six cuts, but made the second half of the tournament and now stands a great chance of a decent finish after his second round.
A four-way tie for third followed just a shot back on nine-under, with Americans Skip Kendall, Kevin Streelman, Steve Wheatcroft and Kris Blanks in that group.
Rory Sabbatini, the highest-ranked player in the field at number 55, missed the cut despite a second round 68, but veteran John Daly made it through despite carding a 73.
The third round got underway later on Sunday, with the $3.5 million tournament hoping to be concluded on Monday.
