PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem says Tiger Woods has yet to confirm when he will return to golf, despite an announcement being expected on Monday.
Finchem said on Sunday that he expected word from the current world number one about his return to action 'pretty soon'.
With Finchem then set to address the media on Monday, it was expected that he would reveal the exact date for Woods' comeback.
However, the mystery goes on as Finchem had no further update at the teleconference, though he did say that he knew Woods was preparing to get back into the game.
"We have the general information that Tiger's preparing to play and there's been a lot of speculation about when he might come back out," said Finchem.
"Tiger's indicated to us that he'll give us reasonable notice, because we know we've got some preparation to do, but I don't have the specific date when he's going to come back.
"But I can only assume that if all the speculation about late March, early April is true, if he's going to start back then, then we will know soon."
Woods has been pictured practising and there has been mounting speculation that he could play in the Tavistock Cup next Monday and Tuesday.
Other possible tournaments suggested for his first appearance back were the Arnold Palmer Invitational later in the same week, or The Masters at Augusta.
The 14-time Major winner last played on November 15 last year, winning the Australian Masters in Melbourne. He has since taken an indefinite break from the game following to try and save his marriage after admitting to "transgressions" on his website.

Come on Woodsy, we all want you back. The game has not been the same without you. The ratings have dropped showing that Tiger really is bigger than golf!

Tiger woods plays golf. He is an extraordinary good golfing talent. He is also a human being. Are we all saints all of us who domain of this world? We all have problems from time to time, some have bigger issues than others. Sad and unfortunate things occur within the life of a human being. sad and unfortunate things occur in the life of Tiger Woods. Healing is a fortunate part of life and Tiger Woods will heal like we all can. Hooray ! to hopefully seeing Tiger Woods heal his wounds and one day again rip those golf courses.

If I don't see Tiger teeing up at Augusta on Day 1 of the US Masters 2010 in Augusta, I'll eat my sand wedge.
