With Europe's Ryder Cup team finally assembled, following weeks of speculation with regards to who skipper Colin Montgomerie might select as his three wild cards, the European Tour returns to normality this week in Switzerland.

And where better to sample professional golf in all its splendour than the stunning Crans-Sur-Sierre course in the Swiss Alps.

The Omega-sponsored European Masters is one of the most popular stops on Tour, with Crans-Sur-Sierre one of its lowest-scoring venues.

The last time four 68s proved good enough for victory was 28 years ago when Welshman Ian Woosnam secured his maiden Tour title with a 72-hole total of 272.

The venue, opened in 1908, has been hosting Tour events for over 60 years.

It is undulating, tree-lined and, because of its high altitude, the ball travels approximately 10% further than normal.

So who could be amongst the contenders this week?

Bradley Dredge: Always plays well in the thin air of Crans. The Welshman has finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd here since 2006.

Simon Dyson: The in-form Yorkshireman will either feel free from the strains of chasing Ryder Cup points or suffer a reaction after missing out on a place in Europe's team.

Miguel Angel Jimenez: A regular visitor to Switzerland, the Spaniard has posted three top-four finishes in his last six starts in this event.

Brett Rumford: The Aussie, who came mighty close to victory at Gleneagles on Sunday, enjoyed a play-off success in Switzerland three years ago.

Charl Schwartzel: The talented South African has experienced a few quiet weeks recently, so will be eager to discover his best form again. He finished sixth at Crans 12 months ago.

Oliver Wilson: The Englishman is still waiting for his maiden Tour title. Was in contention at Gleneagles on Sunday and in four trips to Switzerland has not finished outside the top 25.
