Hoffman: Incredible finish
Charley Hoffman produced a stunning final round of 62 to claim a five-shot victory in the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Hoffman could even afford two dropped shots in Boston on Monday as he recorded an incredible 11 birdies to finish on 22-under par for the tournament.
The 33-year-old surges up to second place in the FedEx Cup points rankings at the halfway point in the four-event play-off series.
Australian player Jason Day, who was one shot clear at the start of Monday's final round, finished in a three-way tie for second after disappointing effort of 71 on the last day.
Fellow Aussie Geoff Ogilvy and Englishman Luke Donald joined him in a share of the runner-up spot after rounds of 66 and 69 respectively.
But they could do nothing to halt Hoffman's charge, who notched five birdies in six holes on the front nine before taking six more after the turn to race clear in the lead. He made par on only five holes.
Tom Gillis (65), Adam Scott (67) and Brandt Snedeker (71) finished in a tie for fifth place. Matt Kuchar finished tied for 11th and retains his lead of the Cup points race.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods made three birdies in the process of compiling a final round of 68 to finish tied for 11th and secure a place in the 70-strong field for the next play-off event in Chicago.
"I'm very satisfied. The things we've been working on are starting to come together," Woods told NBC television, referring to his swing changes with coach Sean Foley.
"I started feeling more comfortable. I'm able to fix it on the golf course. That's the biggest thing. When I hit a couple of bad shots I'm able to rectify it.
"Today I was trying to shoot about 62. I thought that would have been a pretty good number but I didn't do that."
