Tiger Woods has underlined his desire to feature in October's Ryder Cup match at Celtic Manor.

The world number one failed to qualify automatically for the US team but is red-hot favourite to secure one of captain Corey Pavin's four wildcard picks.

The American skipper will reveal his four picks on Tuesday and you can watch the announcement live on Sky Sports News from 3.30pm.

Woods gave Pavin another timely nudge with a strong finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday, three birdies in his final four holes lifting him into a tie for 11th.

Asked whether he was now expecting a call from Pavin to inform him he would be in the team, Woods said with a smile: "We'll see, hopefully he has my number."

Despite a relatively modest Ryder Cup record in which he has won just ten of 25 matches, the 34-year-old is expected to get the nod from Pavin.

Woods missed America's victory at Valhalla in 2008 through injury and admits he would like the chance to represent his country this time around.

"I missed the last one because I was injured and it would be nice to be on the team," he continued.

"I enjoy playing in the Ryder Cup and going out there against those guys with my team-mates."

On the challenge of playing on European soil this time around, he added: "On the road... you get booed a lot, you get jeered and people say things they shouldn't say.

"It comes from both sides. They (the Americans) did it with Monty (Colin Montgomerie), so it goes both ways, and I've had that experience and understand how to deal with it and make it a positive thing."

You''d never guess that Tiger rarely plays in Europe, as European crowds, whether at main tour events or the Ryder Cup have never booed or jeered players. I can''t understand why he said that, as European spectators are much more knowledgable and gracious than American spectators. So maybe we should live up to Tiger''s expectations when he plays at Celtic Manor ( provided he''s picked ). Used to like the guy, but he''s turned out to be a fake!!
