Every week during the season, we bring you all the facts and figures you need to stay one step ahead of the bookies... or at least give them a run for their money!

With both the European and PGA Tours having shut up shop for the season, attention this week turns to the World Cup which, for the third year in a row, will be staged at the Mission Hills Golf Club in China.

The tournament was founded by Canadian industrialist John Jay Hopkins in 1953 and known at its inception as the Canada Cup. The first winners were Argentina, represented by Antonio Cerda and Roberto De Vicenzo, and it wasn't until 1967 that the event changed its name to the World Cup.

This week, Swedish duo Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson return to defend the title they won 12 months ago. A total of 28 nations will be competing in China with the Swedes, England (Ian Poulter/ Ross Fisher) and Ireland (Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell) amongst the favourites.
