Looking back at 2007, highlights of our programming included:
FOOTBALL: Sky Sports broadcast live football every week of the year, with the UEFA European Under-21 Championship and Copa America during the summer months. From the start of the new season there were more Barclays Premier League matches than ever before; 92 this season, with all offered in HD alongside Carling Cup and select UEFA Champions League matches. A new three year deal for all Football League competitions was also secured, ensuring live coverage of the Championship, League One, League Two and the Carling Cup until 2012.
CRICKET: Cricket was also shown every week of the year with 283 days of play shown live, around 800 hours in HD. The schedule included England's home and away Test and One-Day series, every match from the ICC Cricket World Cup and the inaugural ICC World Twenty20, and over 55 live domestic games from each of the four major trophies with every county featured. Every Test nation was shown, plus women's and Under-19 internationals.
GOLF: Sky Sports broadcast golf programming every week of the year, including the first HD coverage of two Majors; the US Open and USPGA Championship. The year also brought a new long-term deal for live golf; the Ryder Cup events of 2010 and 2012, all World Gold Championship events and 35 PGA European Tour events up to 2012. Golf Night launched in January 2007, broadcasting four nights a week, the most comprehensive golf magazine show available.
RUGBY UNION: There was also Rugby union every week of the year with 203 live matches from domestic, European and international levels, as well as age-grade and women's matches. All home internationals, Guinness Premiership, and select Heineken Cup games matches, along with The Rugby Club shows, were offered in HD. Coverage was enhanced with unmanned mini-cameras for the first time - providing more angles to aid the Video Referee's decisions, while interactive coverage gave a choice of live games and in-game try clips from other live matches.
RUGBY LEAGUE: All domestic matches were covered in HD for the first time, from the start of the Super League in February, and attendances at Super League matches continued to climb, rising over 10 thousand. A total of 98 games were covered live including World Cup qualifying matches, engage Super League, national league and the Varsity match, and in 2007, magazine programme Boots n' All was the first at Sky to have a bespoke online version.
TENNIS: Live tennis was shown throughout the year and interactivity increased the depth of coverage from 1,150 hours to nearly 2,000 hours. The nine events from the ATP Masters Series were again exclusively live and a new deal secured this year extended that coverage until 2010. There was a choice of up to five simulcast matches from each round of the US Open, and on the eve of the tournament a new long-term deal was awarded to Sky Sports. Alongside these events, Sky Sports brings viewers select matches from the ATP Masters Cup, Davis Cup, Nottingham Open, Hopman Cup and the Fed Cup.
BREADTH: In 2007, Sky Sports broadcast a vast range of sports catering to the nation's favourites and more. Over 1,000 hours of NFL American Football were shown, including the Super Bowl in HD for the first time, and the first ever regular season home-game outside of North America live from Wembley Stadium, also in HD; there were 2,500 hours of motor sport, which included the Race of Champions, Indy Racing league, A1 Grand Prix, plus Elite League, Grand Prix and World Cup speedway; and 440 hours of boxing including 39 live and eight delayed bills from the UK and USA; and the Royal International and Horse of the Year show, both in HD.
Multi-platform coverage was also extended, with subscribers enjoying content via television, mobile and broadband. In August, skysports.com was relaunched, attracting 10.2 million unique users and 2.5 million video downloads that month. Mobile TV proved popular, with Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and News streamed live, and consistently rating as the four most popular channels each month on mobile.
