Amir Khan was fined and banned from driving for 42 days after a court heard he had been clocked speeding at 140mph on a motorway.
Commonwealth lightweight champion Khan was caught driving at speeds of up to 140mph along the M62 motorway on New Year's Eve 2006.
A police officer told Rochdale Magistrates' Court that his speedometer was "off the clock" at 155mph as he chased Khan's BMW 6 series convertible along the motorway.
Sentencing Khan, 21, of Bolton, District Judge Pamela Baldwin said there was not enough evidence to prove he was driving at more than 100mph but she was satisfied that it was in excess of 70mph.
Khan had denied the charge but during his trial admitted his speed may have reached around 75mph.
