Stand-in opponent Edison Torres proved no match for Kevin Mitchell who stretched his unbeaten record to 25 fights with a third-round stoppage at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday night.
Mitchell had been scheduled to fight Carl Johanneson for the British Super Featherweight, but the Leeds fighter was forced to pull out with a back injury.
Thomas Aryeetey was then lined up to fight for Mitchell's Commonwealth Super Featherweight title, but the Ghanaian failed to come through a medical.
Torres subsequently agreed to take on the fight at the shortest of notice, but proved no match for the rising Dagenham star.
After sizing his opponent up in the first couple of rounds, Mitchell stepped it up in the third and forced the referee to step in and call a premature halt to the contest.
Mitchell now wants to reschedule his fight with Johanneson for March 8, on the undercard of the world cruiserweight title showdown between Enzo Maccarinelli and David Haye.
