Alex Arthur has admitted that he will use the postponement of his WBO super-featherweight title fight against Joan Guzman to his advantage.
Arthur was due to face the champion at the Meadowbank Stadium on May 3, however the clash has been postponed after Guzman failed to receive his visa to travel in time.
And although initially angry that the fight had been postponed, Arthur is now determined to make Guzman pay when the fight is finally rearranged.
The 29-year-old said: "After all the training that I had put in, including going to America for two weeks, I was angry when I was I told that he couldn't get here on time because of a Visa problem.
"My training schedule is very precise and I plan everything with my training team to the minute, so to have my plans thrown up in the air was a big blow.
"Once I calmed down and looked at the situation again I realised that I could use this to my advantage because I now have some valuable extra time to prepare with my team.
"Guzman is a great fighter and I know that I have the beating of him but if I can be 10 per cent faster and stronger because of the delay then it will work in my favour."
Arthur's promoter Frank Warren is hoping to rearrange the match as soon as possible, although he is waiting to hear about Guzman's visa.
Warren said: "We are hopeful to announce a new date for the fight very shortly once we hear from Guzman's promoters Sycuan Boxing that he has received his visa.
"It's a big disappointment but Alex is a thorough professional and will have to take this in his stride."

I dont think that the fight will ever happen Guzman ducked out of fighting Scott Harrison and now he is doing the same to Alex. Guzman may well be a decent world champion however he is no where near the professional that Alex is

What an amateurish shambles. Surely something as basic as getting a Visa should be sorted out well in advance. I'm sure, like myself, many others have booked hotels and transport to get to this fight on May 3rd and will now lose money.

I can see Alex Arthur taking this fight if it goes the distance, Joan Guzman is a very good fight but i cant see Guzman winning if he doesnt take it to Alex Arthur from the start

I doubt very much that Alex Arthur can beat Joan Guzman. Guzman looks a class or two above Arthur. Good luck to him though, I hope he wins it if they fight, but I expect Guzman to KO or stop Arthur in less than 6 rounds.
