Khan: Will go toe-to-toe with Gomez on June 21
I save my best for the big occasion. I went to Scotland to fight Alex Arthur, who had a virtually identical record to Amir, and I blew him away in the fifth round. I'm going to do the same thing to Khan.

Although he has suffered three defeats in his last six fights, the 30-year-old has been in this situation before having put an end to Alex Arthur's perfect record back in 2003.
"Amir's a very good fighter but he's never fought anyone like me," he said.
"I'm going to take him out of his comfort zone and get in his face before the first bell has even sounded.
"He doesn't have a good right hand and his punch resistance is not too good. People have doubted me throughout my career but the run-of-the-mill fights just don't interest me.

"Gomez will walk forward into my punches and I expect it to be an explosive fight and an interesting build-up," the 21-year-old said.
"But if he starts mouthing off and getting into my face it will be part of the experience for me.
"To be honest I think I'm above this domestic level now but each fight is bringing something different. There is no way Gomez is going to be as fit as me so I expect a spectacular stoppage."

Gomez is a shot fighter who lost to Carl Johannesson by KO. I personally dont see the fight lasting beyond the 3rd. Khan should be pushing on now and fighting european top 10 ranked fighters every fight.

Without doubt this is Khan's toughest test to date, Gomez will not be fazed by the hype surrounding Khan in the least, Michael Gomez is one tough cookie but has been in some real wars, If Khan can compete with Gomez's early pressure and keep him off with the jab then i take him to win on points, My heart says Gomez to win by TKO though, good luck Michael.....

dont get me wrong amir is a great fighter but he hasnt been up against any real talent yet. every one hes fought are has beens or a nobody. his toughest test so far has been willie limond. a re match with some one like limond would prove that amir cannot take a good punch. gomez is underestimated and i think there will be a shock to the system for khan. gomez in the 5th sounds good!.

Fighting Gomez who at best was an average British fighter who has been past his prime for years simply shows that Khan is totally overhyped. The first time he is in the ring with a true world class operator Khan will be picked apart just like Naseem Hamed was by Marco Antonio Barrera. And from what I've seen Khan is no Naz!

I cannot understand Khan taking this fight! If Khan is supposed to be fighting for a world title by the end of the year why is he fighting a fighter who is way past his best! Gomez in his prime would have been a very good test for Khan but not now. I see it over within 3 rounds.

I've never been a fan of Khan's, but it's Khan 1 Gomez Nil. Gomez might not even see the end of round 3, unless Khan has decided to toy with him for the experience. The BBBC should rescind Gomez's licence and save him from himself !! Don't read too much into the Arthur fight, Gomez did'nt beat Arthur, Arthur beat Arthur, by not fighting in his usual style. He tried to out-macho Gomez and it was the totally wrong tactics because Gomez had prepared like a maniac, because he knew everybody thought he was over the hill. Khan will prove he is on Saturday night !!

Easy Amir, you can't grow muscles on your chin. I hear he is a sucker for a left hook. Anyway... I have to say it is very interesting. I have seen it happen before where both boxers are at crossroads, you never know. I just hope Gomez is up for it and he sticks his head on Amir's chest and makes him fight. I am looking forward to a good old fahioned domestic dust up. I think it is good matchmaking as I am up for it. I hope Gomez deals with the weight and Amirs power and lands a couple. Overall, I think Khan will win knowing he has been in his first proper fight and I think we will see him wiping his gloves on the refs shirt.

Gomez is is seasoned and has a talent for violence that could sicken khan.khan will come through a 4 round barnburner whith his record intact and his confidence shattered.Talk of khan fighting for a world title before years end seem ludicrous.Matching him with nate campbell would be pre-meditated child abuse and for khan would lead to a career slide every bit as dramatic as mike yarwoods. Anybody remember David Reid? thought not.

I definitely agree with Gary Wide, Khan needs to avoid pulling a Hatton and fighting nobodies! I mean who was that last joker Ricky was in the ring with? Floyd someone or other I think. Journeyman! In seriousness, I can't see this fight being all that entertaining, Gomez will probably come out strong but with nothing Amir can't cope with. It'll be over by about round 7-8.

Gomez has 5 rounds at the most to get rid of Khan, after that i feel he will be a spent force and Khan will stop him.

Is it true that Gomez is being trained by Oliver Harrison - Khans former trainer? If so Khan had better watch out!!!!

Hi guys - this is going to be a cracker. Amir should not have left his trainer Oliver Harrison (he is one of the best trainers around - and is definitely on a par with his American counterparts - if not better). Gomez is a strong kid and has plenty of heart - he will be a good test for Khan and if he catches him he could do the business.

Frank Warren is very clever in setting up highly ranked fighters against khan without putting him up against someone with class... not sure about Gomez but i dont think he'll be tested until he gets Diaz or Campbell..... nevertheless khan will win and get a title shot in the next couple of fights....

I know a lot of people close to Gomez and everyone of them has said to expect big things. I've seen him recently and he is looking very trim and fit. I'm not sure whether Gomez will win but rest assured it will be a closer fight than most people are predicting - I think you'll see Khan on the canvass.

Khan win no doubt. Why are we going on bout Gomez Arthur fight it was 2003, its now 2008!!! Khan is getting better he still is learning but every fight for Gomez now is his come back fight. Gomez will be lively for first 3 rounds then Khan will take over, 8th round stoppage for Khan.
