Wayne Elcock says his derby date with Darren McDermott is his first step towards a second world title tilt.
The Birmingham man puts his British middleweight title on the line in front of the Friday Fight Night cameras in his first fight in six months.
His last outing was a failed bid for Arthur Abraham's IBF world title, which lasted just five rounds.
But Elcock, who has only fought 21 times a pro, says he can hit those heights again.
"I've still got enough time to achieve what I want to achieve in boxing," he said.
"I've had a taste of what it's like in a world title fight - now I want more.
"There's still plenty of time for me to get another world title shot. The journey back to the top starts here."
Elcock will be making the first defence of the belt he took from Howard Eastman on points last September.
He will start as slight favourite against McDermott, from nearby Dudley, in what promises to be a sizzling atmosphere a the Coventry SkyDome Arena.
McDermott though, is undefeated in his 18 paid contests, drawing just one and putting together a winning run of eight fights that stretches back to April 2005.
