Undefeated Irishman John Duddy is set to challenge for Verno Phillips' IBF light-middleweight world title.
Duddy, who has 17 knockouts from 25 fights, has campaigned at middleweight throughout his professional career, but will drop down a division for his title shot.
New York-based Irish Ropes Promotions, Duddy's management company, have struck a deal this week with Phillips' handlers Banner Promotions.
"He's moving down to junior middleweight and fighting Verno Phillips on or before the last day of October," Duddy's manager Eddie McLoughlin told PA Sport.
"We don't know what venue it's at as yet because we have to see what the TV companies are going to do.
"It should all be solidified in the next 10 days."
