Quotes of the week
Bernard Dunne will not be Rendall Munroe's next opponent.
The Irishman was touted as the next challenger to the European super-bantamweight champion who came through his second defence against Arsen Martirosian last week.
Dunne had been calling Munroe out and promoter Frank Maloney had set a deadline of Monday to seal the deal.
But contractual issues have scuppered the bout and now Maloney says it will not happen for some time.
"Dunne has had his chance, and will have to wait at least 18 months for a mandatory fight," he said.
"Munroe is now looking elsewhere and Dunne is off the radar."
Munroe added Martirosian's scalp to that of Kiko Martinez and Salem Bouaita despite not seeing any footage of the French-based Armenian.
It was his third fight in six months but Maloney is keen to keep the boxing binman busy.
"I expect to name Rendall's next challenger inside 10 days," he said. "We have three names in the frame at the moment.
"In the next week I will discuss the options with Rendall, his manager Mike Shinfield and trainer Jason Shinfield."
